Getting started

What is LamsaGuard?

A trade manager, a risk firewall and a trading journal for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, in one controller. It sizes and places your trades, blocks you before your loss limits, and journals every trade with its plan and result.

Which platforms and brokers does it work with?

MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, with any broker that offers them, on personal or prop-firm accounts. You use the normal desktop MetaTrader terminal on your Windows PC; one Windows installer adds the LamsaGuard EA to every MT4 and MT5 it finds.

Does LamsaGuard work on Mac?

No. LamsaGuard runs on Windows only (Windows 10 or 11, or a Windows VPS): the LamsaGuard app and the EA run next to MetaTrader on that PC. A Mac version is not available now. If you use a Mac, you can run LamsaGuard on a Windows PC or on your own Windows VPS. The phone controller works on any modern iPhone or Android phone.

What do I need to use it?

A Windows PC (or Windows VPS) with the MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 desktop terminal, an internet connection, and a LamsaGuard plan or the 7-day free trial (no card needed). For the phone controller on the Connect plan, you also need a phone on the same Wi-Fi as the PC.

Where do I download LamsaGuard?

On your account page, after you log in - there is no public download. Downloads open when your plan is active or your free trial runs. Because the installer is new, Windows may show "Windows protected your PC": click More info, then Run anyway. Edge may say the file "isn't commonly downloaded": choose Keep. More help.

How long does setup take?

About five minutes. The installer adds the EA to MetaTrader for you. In the EA you enter your LamsaGuard username and password, allow Algo Trading and allow WebRequest for https://api.lamsaguard.com. A setup wizard asks plain questions about your limits, and SETUP CHECK shows a tick for each item: EA linked, licence, Algo Trading allowed, internet for the EA and so on. The help center walks you through each step.

Can I run LamsaGuard on a VPS?

Yes. Install MetaTrader, the LamsaGuard EA and the LamsaGuard app on your own Windows VPS and the firewall protects your account around the clock, even when your home PC is off. You use the controller on the VPS through Remote Desktop.

Two things to know: the built-in MetaTrader VPS only runs the EA, not the LamsaGuard app, so you need a normal Windows VPS. And the planned Pro plan is meant to include a VPS: a LamsaGuard VPS running MetaTrader 24/7, with control from your phone away from home - no VPS to rent or set up yourself.

Does it work with prop-firm challenges?

Yes. Prop mode lets you set the challenge start balance and how drawdown is counted (fixed, trailing on equity, closed balance or end of day, and where trailing stops) and how the daily loss is measured and when the day resets, so the limits match your challenge. LamsaGuard is not connected to any prop firm; always check your firm's own rules.

Firewall and safety

What exactly does the firewall block?

New trades, when a limit is close or one of your rules says no: daily loss, max drawdown, losses in a row, pause after a loss, max trades per day, max spread, news and session times, per-trade risk and R:R. The screen always tells you which rule is blocking.

How does news protection work?

The app shows the next high-impact news for the currencies of your chart in the header, and a news calendar for the week with forecast and previous. With news protection on, the firewall blocks new trades for the minutes you set before and after each event, and can close open trades a few minutes before it. You choose high impact only or high and medium. The EA on your MetaTrader does the blocking, so it keeps working even when the app is closed.

What is the safety buffer?

A margin in front of your real limits. With the default 10%, a $1,000 daily loss limit starts blocking new trades at $900 used, so slippage and open trades still have room.

What if I place a trade directly in MetaTrader?

It is checked too. If trading is blocked, a trade opened by hand (in MetaTrader, the MetaTrader phone app or web terminal) is closed again, and a pending order is deleted. If trading is not blocked and you have set a max loss or max risk per trade, the trade is checked the moment it opens: with no stop loss, or a stop too far away, LamsaGuard sets the stop at the furthest price your rules allow. If the trade is too large for any stop, it is closed at once (you still pay the spread). If you later move the stop so that it breaks a rule, the stop is put back. Both checks can be switched off in INPUTS. Trades opened by other EAs are not treated as hand trades (more).

Can I trade past a rule when I need to?

Yes, with a timed override: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or the rest of the day. Your personal rules pause, but your real daily loss and drawdown limits stay protected. The override ends by itself and is logged in your stats.

What is the hard floor?

The last line of protection during an override. It trips just before your real daily loss or drawdown limit, with a small margin for slippage, closes your trades, ends the override and blocks trading.

Can I turn the firewall off?

Yes, but it asks you to confirm first, and we do not recommend it. With the firewall off nothing is enforced, not even your account limits. Use a timed override when you only need to pass one rule.

Can LamsaGuard promise I will never break my limit?

No tool can. Price gaps, slippage, broker problems or a PC that is switched off can all cause losses beyond your limits. LamsaGuard blocks early and closes trades before the real limit to leave room, and each trade keeps its stop loss with your broker. Read the risk disclosure.

What happens if my PC or internet goes off?

Protection runs while your PC and MetaTrader are running. The stop loss and take profit on each trade stay with your broker either way. For protection around the clock, run LamsaGuard on your own Windows VPS. The planned Pro plan is meant to include a VPS.

Controller and trading

Which orders and actions can I use?

Market buy and sell, buy and sell stop or limit orders, stop loss and target, break-even, trailing stop, half close, partial close at a price, close part, close, double, close winners or losers, break-even all, basket close and close all.

Does LamsaGuard trade for me?

No. You decide every trade. LamsaGuard sizes it, checks it against your rules, sends it when you fire, and steps in only to protect your limits.

Can a pocket tap open or close a trade?

FIRE needs a hold until the ring fills, closing buttons ask for a second tap, and a lock button freezes the controller. You can switch FIRE to one tap in Inputs if you prefer speed.

How does my phone connect?

On the Connect plan, the LamsaGuard app on your PC shows a QR code. Scan it with your phone camera and the controller opens in your phone's browser, on the same Wi-Fi as the PC. Nothing to install on the phone. The phone controller only opens on your home or office network and only with a confirmed Connect license; on Basic it runs on the PC.

If the controller stops loading on your phone, for example after your router restarts, open the app on your PC and scan the QR code again.

Can I run the EA on more than one chart?

Yes, though one chart per account is enough - it protects every symbol. On other charts of the same account the EA shows STANDBY: one chart leads and the others stand by, so the controller never jumps between them. If the leading chart closes, another one takes over. Charts of the same trading account count as one account.

Can I use LamsaGuard with another EA?

Yes, on the same account. LamsaGuard's own trades carry their own magic number, so they never mix with your other EA's trades. What it does with the other EA's trades today:

Not treated as hand trades. The hand-trade guard only acts on trades you open yourself. So while the firewall blocks you, trades your other EA opens are not closed and its pending orders are not deleted - LamsaGuard does not stop that EA. Switch it off yourself if you want it to stop too. On MetaTrader 4 one exception: MT4 does not record who opened a trade, so a trade with magic number 0 counts as a hand trade. Give your EA a magic number other than 0.

Counted in your limits. Its trades use the same money, so they count in your daily loss, drawdown, open risk and max open trades.

Closed by account-wide closes. Whenever LamsaGuard closes all trades, it closes every trade on the account and deletes every pending order, the other EA's too: daily loss or max drawdown with auto-close on, the hard floor, the prop profit target, the profit lock, close before news, the Friday close (off unless you switch it on), basket close, CLOSE ALL, and Emotion Guard if you chose to close open trades. Turn off the closes you do not want in INPUTS. Bulk buttons such as break-even all and close winners or losers also act on every trade.

Tip: do not let two tools manage the same trade. If another EA trails or moves a stop, do not also use LamsaGuard's trailing stop or break-even on that trade.

What is Emotion Guard?

A second layer on top of the firewall. The firewall stops you at your limit; Emotion Guard makes sure you cannot talk yourself around it. In INPUTS press EMOTION GUARD, choose what it does (stop new trades, close open trades, tell a friend by email) and enter your password.

Arm it (recommended): nothing locks now. While armed, override and firewall OFF are switched off. When a firewall rule blocks you (daily loss or drawdown, max trades, losses in a row, profit target or profit lock) it locks by itself for the rest of the day or 1, 2 or 4 hours: no new trades, no override, no firewall OFF, no changing your inputs. It fires once a day. News, session and the pause after a loss do not fire it, because they end by themselves. You can disarm it with your password, but not while it is locked.

Lock me now: feeling it before any rule trips? Lock straight away for 30 minutes up to the rest of the day.

During a lock, closing or reducing your trades always works, and your stops and firewall limits keep working. The lock comes back after a restart of MetaTrader. Honest limit: it works while LamsaGuard runs. If LamsaGuard is removed during a lock, the lock is recorded as broken and your friend (if you named one) gets one email. New trades from your other EAs are not blocked; but if you chose to close open trades, every open trade on the account closes, theirs included.

Does LamsaGuard ever move my stop loss by itself?

Only when you ask it to: the trailing stop you turn on for a trade, and auto break-even if you set it in INPUTS. Every automatic move is written in the MetaTrader Experts tab with the old and new price, so you can always see who moved it.

Trailing stops are remembered when MetaTrader restarts. If price moved while MetaTrader was closed, the trail catches up in one step as soon as it starts again.

Are my stop loss and target sent to my broker?

Yes. Trades fired from LamsaGuard are sent with their stop loss and take profit, so they stay with your broker even if your PC goes off.

Journal and stats

Do I have to write my journal by hand?

No. Every closed trade is added with its plan, result in R, how long it ran and how much of the best move you kept. You can add tags and notes if you want.

What is the Lamsa Score?

One number from 0 to 100 built from win rate, profit factor, average win against average loss, consistency, recovery and discipline. It shows the weakest area first, so you know what to work on.

Can I export my data?

Yes. In the Journal, EXCEL saves an Excel report of the trades you picked: a summary (profit, win rate, profit factor, drawdown, by symbol, day, hour and month) and every trade with your balance after it, deposits and withdrawals included, plus charts. In Stats, PDF saves the whole Stats page as it looks in the app, for the range you chose.

Plans and billing

Which plan should I choose?

Basic ($39 a month) if you trade at your PC. Connect ($49 a month) if you also want to plan and manage trades from your phone. Both work with any number of trading accounts. Pro, coming soon, adds control from anywhere and a hosted MetaTrader running 24/7.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Basic and Connect both come with a 7-day free trial - no card needed. On the pricing page press "Start 7-day free trial", sign up and confirm your email; the download opens at once. One day before the trial ends we email you a reminder. When it ends, LamsaGuard stops until you choose a plan - nothing is charged unless you buy. To keep going, choose Basic or Connect on your account page: you keep the same username, password and installed app, nothing to reinstall. The free trial is once per customer and once per trading account. If you prefer, simply buy and start at once.

What is the founders' price?

30% off Basic or Connect for as long as you stay subscribed. It is for the first 100 traders, or until 31 December 2026, whichever comes first. When it shows on the pricing page, it is applied at checkout.

How many trading accounts can I use?

As many as you like, on MetaTrader 4 or 5, demo or live. LamsaGuard works on the account you are trading now: attach the EA to another account and the app follows it. Each account keeps its own settings, rules, journal and stats, so nothing is lost when you switch back. Several charts of the same account count as one.

Your plan runs a set number of accounts at the same time - your account page shows how many. If you start LamsaGuard on one more, the newest takes over and the oldest pauses: its controller switches off within a few minutes, while its firewall keeps protecting it. Restart the EA there to switch back.

What is the difference between monthly and yearly?

The same plan, paid differently. Monthly renews each month. Yearly is paid once a year and costs the same as ten months: Basic $390 a year and Connect $490 a year, so you get two months free.

How do I pay?

Online, through Paddle's secure checkout: by card or other popular methods (such as Apple Pay or Google Pay, where available). Your plan starts as soon as the payment is confirmed - no waiting for manual activation. Paddle is the merchant of record for LamsaGuard orders, sends your receipts and shows on your card statement as PADDLE.NET. Prices are in US dollars; sales tax or VAT is added at checkout where your country requires it.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes, on your account page under Manage billing. Monthly and yearly plans renew until you cancel. When you cancel, your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for; there is no refund for the rest of that period. The free trial needs no card, so there is nothing to cancel - it simply ends after 7 days.

If a payment fails, LamsaGuard keeps working for a short grace period while the card is tried again, and we email you. After that, or when a cancelled plan reaches the end of its paid period, the LamsaGuard EA and app stop and your account is no longer protected until you renew.

Can I change my plan later?

Yes. Upgrading: on your account page press Upgrade to Connect. You see the amount first and pay only the difference for the days left in your billing period; your renewal date stays the same, and the new plan reaches the EA within about 2 minutes - nothing to reinstall.

Downgrading to a smaller plan, or from yearly to monthly: send us a ticket from your account page and we switch it for you. A downgrade starts at once and there is no refund or credit for the rest of the period you already paid, so the best time is just before your renewal date.

Can I get a refund?

All sales are final. Use the 7-day free trial to check LamsaGuard on your own setup first. If LamsaGuard does not work on your setup and our support cannot fix it, we refund you. See the refund policy.

Is my money safe with LamsaGuard?

LamsaGuard never holds or moves your funds and never asks for your broker password. It runs inside your own MetaTrader on your own PC and can only place, change or close trades on your account.

Free Firewall

What is the free LamsaGuard Firewall?

A free EA for MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, free forever. It watches your whole account: daily loss limit with a safety buffer, max drawdown (static or trailing), profit target and max trades per day. When a limit is hit it closes your trades (or only blocks new ones) and closes trades you open by hand while blocked. You get it by email from the free download page - no card, no account.

How is the free firewall different from the paid plans?

The free one is the account firewall only. Basic and Connect add more rules (losses in a row, pause after a loss, spread and sessions), the news lock, Emotion Guard, the timed override, the trade manager, the automatic journal and stats, and on Connect the phone controller. The paid EA includes everything in the free one, so use one or the other on an account. Compare them.

Does the free firewall need the LamsaGuard app or a login?

No. It has no app and no controller: it is one EA file that runs inside MetaTrader. You copy it into the Experts folder (MQL5 for MetaTrader 5, MQL4 for MetaTrader 4), attach it to one chart and type your limits in its Inputs tab. No login and no LamsaGuard account. Install problems? See troubleshooting.

Help and support

How do I get help?

Start with the help center: it has setup guides and troubleshooting for the most common problems. If you are still stuck, send a ticket from the form on that page or write to [email protected]. We reply by email. Connect customers get priority support.

Something is not working - where do I start?

Open SETUP CHECK in the app (INPUTS tab): every line should say OK. Then look up the exact message you see in troubleshooting - for example "enter your LamsaGuard username and password", "cannot reach the licence server", STANDBY on a chart, or "in use on account".

What should I include in a support ticket?

Your LamsaGuard username, your MetaTrader account number, what you tried and what you saw. Add screenshots with the Add screenshots or log button - a picture of SETUP CHECK in the app helps a lot. For app problems, press SEND LOG TO SUPPORT in SETUP CHECK and attach app.log. Never send your broker or LamsaGuard password.
